I don't live in Carson, but I've driven enough around the University to know that it's not Beverly Hills, but it's not Compton, either. (Incidentally, there are some nice parts of Compton). I think at this point, you need to go look for yourself. You're a big girl now. I don't anything we can say should cause you to lose any sleep or allay your fears. Carson is a lot like Long Beach, and the University around it. Mostly working-class homes, nothing too scary, with a diverse ethnic population. End of story. Go. Study. Learn. Graduate. Good luck!
