A vehicle (Latin: vehiculum) is a mechanical means of conveyance, a carriage or transport. Most often they are manufactured (e.g. bicycles, cars, motorcycles, trains, ships, boats, and aircraft), although some other means of transport which are not made by humans also may be called vehicles; examples include icebergs and floating tree trunks.

Vehicles may be propelled or pulled by engines or animals including humans, for instance, a chariot, a stagecoach, a mule-drawn barge, an ox-cart or rickshaw. However, animals on their own, though used as a means of transport, are not called vehicles, but rather beasts of burden or draft animals. This distinction includes humans carrying another human, for example a child or a disabled person. Means of transport without a vehicle or animal would include walking, running, crawling, or swimming.

Vehicles that do not travel on land often are called craft, such as watercraft, sailcraft, aircraft, hovercraft, and spacecraft

Land vehicles are classified broadly by what is used to apply steering and drive forces against the ground: wheeled, tracked, railed, or skied.

What happens if a stolen vehicle is found after you collect from insurance?
Q. What happens in a situation if you have a stolen vehicle and time goes by and it hasn't been recovered. You collect money from your insurance company for you loss and spend that money on another vehicle or whatever. What happens if your stolen vehicle is found AFTER you collect that insurance money. Is is still considered your vehicle and returned to you? Does it belong to the insurance company? Would you have to pay the insurance company the money back in order to get your stolen vehicle that was found? Could the owner of that vehicle ever have the option of having that vehicle back if recovered after collecting from the insurance? Or is it considered no one's vehicle anymore after a certain amount of time?

A. The vehicle legally belongs to the insurance company. If the vehicle is wrecked they will sell it for salvage. If it's still in one piece they will sell it. You may be able to keep the vehicle, however you will have to pay back the money the insurer gave you if the vehicle is still in the same condition, or you will have to pay the insurer the salvage value.

How to intentionally disable a vehicle without permanent damage?
Q. Hello, I would like to know the best and easiest way to intentionally disable a vehicle without doing any permanent damage. Simply disconnecting the battery cables is a little too obvious. As for other methods, please keep in mind I would like to be able to simply fix the problem and drive the vehicle home. This is my own vehicle. The reason for doing so is for a sociological research project; seeing who stops to help, age group, gender etc. Spark plugs? Easy way to quickly drain the battery (under an hour)?...Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

When leasing a vehicle, how does it work if you plan to purchase the car? What if you go over mileage?damage?
Q. So, my wife is almost at the end of the lease she purchased on her car before we met. We, for the most part have decided to buy the vehicle. Tonight, ironically, we hit a deer on the way home after running some errands. I'd say $500+ damage to the vehicle. What are you recommendations for return to dealership? I've heard people say before you can negotiate a price now. How does this work? The entire leasing process can be somewhat confusing.

A. The lease is one deal and they will nail you for the damage. Then buying the car is a separate deal. But demand a discount as the car was in an accident and needed body repairs. Overall by the time yoy are done you will have paid quite a bit more than if you had just bought the car in the first place, even with slightly longer payments.
